TEACHING EXPERIENCES-LIFE EXPERIENCES

My Fulbright exchange: Activities for the French classes

1-      The me books idea

2-      Moroccan proverbs

3-      Moroccan tales

4-      Coach a play with the advanced level(written by myself: Who said Cinderella was not Moroccan?)

5-      Find activities appropriate to the program students are studying

6-      Public speaking: Power point presentations about different topics.

7-      Creative writing with advanced levels

8-      Communicative activities: the communication lab

9-      A fashion show: with a group of students talking about the clothes

10-   Picture talk: students are given a picture (something weird) and are asked to talk about what they can see.

11-   A French magazine: collect all the works of the students and publish a school magazine.

12-   The “adopt a word activity”. I can choose a list of words that students are studying; each student should choose a word for the whole week. They should give sentences, draw pictures, make jokes or any other creative idea about the word. It is their word after all, have not they adopted it.

13-   Guided interviews: (use of the past) students should ask each other questions about their last holidays.

14-   Interviews: (use of simple present) about hobbies

15-   Communication: persuasion: students bring the map of the USA. As I am a tourist, each team should persuade me to go to a given state because of this or that. In fact they should persuade me using expressions of persuasion.

16-   Try to invite someone to school.

17-   I should tell a Moroccan story to students and ask them to imagine the end. (writing)

18-   Unfinished sentences: (should be adapted to the topics studied).

The funniest thing I ever saw________________________

If I had 24 hours to live_____________________________

I have never______________________________________

The thing that worries me most is____________________

I find it difficult to________________________________

I wish I were____________________________________

NB: All activities will be done in French

19-   Problem page: give students a sheet of paper with problems told by certain persons. Students should find solutions. (advice)

20-   Improvisation game.

21-   Parallel poetry writing: find some French poems (pertaining to the topics students study), study them, students, as a follow up should write parallel poetry.

22-   Direct workshops of Moroccan craftsmanship: different kinds of Moroccan embroidery. Do a kind of Moroccan art gallery.

About rabia El Antaki

I am a teacher of English as a second langage. I am very much interested in developing the teaching environment for my students. I also try to be innovative by exchanging the latest teaching experiences with teachers from all over the world. 2007: coached drama club, public speaking club. 2008: participated in Fulbright teacher exchange program. An American teacher visited me in Morocco for six weeks. She team taught with me. I am visiting USA for six weeks too to go through the same experience.
