WALKING IN ARIZONA

I tried to go for a walk in Arizona, or at least in Scottsdale, but I discarded the idea as I have been here for 2 weeks and have never ever seen anybody walking. Cars, cars, cars everywhere. I went to some malls  a lot, and when I wanted to go from one to another, and I had to cross the street, I was just like a person coming from another planet. I was the only one using those two parts of the body  that god has given us to use in case we want to walk. Well, some people have decided to use them only in some exclusive ways such as driving. This is another reason of the overweight Americans suffer from.

I can understand that places are very far, but there are surely some people who live next to the malls. Or, doesn’t anybody express the will to go with friends or family members for a walk?

I had the firm intention to go for walks every day, but now I am afraid to go by myself because I would be the only person walking.

I see a lot of people walking in my neighborhood here in Texas.  I watched a lady being pulled around the block by her rather large dog this morning.:  Even in downtown Dallas, people are out walking.  I agree with you about not walking alone in places you don't know.  It's better to be safe.

About rabia El Antaki

I am a teacher of English as a second langage. I am very much interested in developing the teaching environment for my students. I also try to be innovative by exchanging the latest teaching experiences with teachers from all over the world. 2007: coached drama club, public speaking club. 2008: participated in Fulbright teacher exchange program. An American teacher visited me in Morocco for six weeks. She team taught with me. I am visiting USA for six weeks too to go through the same experience.
